Dinner with Paul Lato!

Friday, November 13th, 2009

I had an incredible dinner at the home of the Paul Lato last night. First, Paul is making some of the most incredible and sought after wines in the Central Coast.  (If you don’t believe me- check out ratings that Parker gave him).  The occasion was a harvest party where Paul invited many of his interns and helpers over for a tapas style dinner to thank them for all their hard work and dedication.  We started out with tons of small bites including ahi, smoked oysters, roasted peppers, grilled sausages, marcona almonds and several other delicacies.  Dinner started with cappellini pasta with saffron cream and 3 types of mushrooms.  The entree was very satisfying- leg of lamb, mashed potatoes and roasted carrots.  Bravo.

here is a list of the wines:

2000 Dom Pergignon

2006 Didier Dagueneau Pur Sang

2006 Bonnacorsi ‘Neilson Vineyard’ Pinot Noir

2003 Paul Lato ‘Gold Coast Vineyard’ Pinot (magnum)

2005Paul Lato ‘Bien Nacido Vineyard’ Syrah (magnum)

2005 Colgin IX Syrah

1998 Phelps insignia

Thanks for a real good time!

PS- I am really starting to believe in the power of the fruit that is coming out of the Bien Nacido Vineyard….

best of luck!

Did you know that Lane Tanner has been producing “old world” style wines in the Santa Maria valley since 1984? Well before “Burgundian” style pinot noir was the rage.

Check ‘em out.  you can reach her via the website btw, “laugh more-flirt often”.
