Have you heard of Paul Lato?

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

…if you have not heard of this winemaker you will shortly. Paul is quietly and quickly becoming one of the rising stars of the Central Coast.  He cooked a simple tappas style dinner for us last week.  It started with roasted peppers, than scallops and fennel, Green tea marinated salmon and finished with roasted lamb.  The wines were an easy drinking bottle of Prosecco, 04 Damoy Chapelle Chambertin and 06 Paul Lato Gold Coast Vineyard ‘Duende’ Pinot Noir.  Paul’s wine was nothing short of amazing and clearly the WOTN.  I strongly reccomend searching out Paul Lato and his wonderful wines.

Go drink a bottle of Chinon, I’ve had two great 2006 Chinon’s this week, one at  Avondale for $32 (I believe it was the Bredif) and one from Ridge St. Wine (the Baudry from Neil Rosenthal) in Breckenridge for $19.99.  You can’t beat it for the price, hooray for Cabernet Franc from the Loire!!!
