What is Copertino?
It is a DOC in Puglia (Southeastern Italy) that produces red wines made from the Negroamaro grape.
At Avondale, WOW, what a great surprise. Plus the wine list (bottle only, skip the by the glass) ROCKS, and the pricing is unbelievably fair…and not just fair for Vail…fair in general. Kudos to Thomas for stepping it up on that one!! Great bar, cool room, outstanding appetizers and pizzas and WOW those wine prices. Check it out!!

What is Grignolino?
Answer: It is a red grape variety from Piedmont, specifically from the Monferrato Hills just outside of Asti. It is light in colour and high in tannin. In fact, the word Grignole means pip in the Asti dialect and as the pip in the grape is indicative of the wines tannin thus leading to the name. The wines are very traditional, and most are not exported, making it a bit difficult to find in the U.S.
p1000068.JPGSo much for an early harvest….we are all in a waiting game here in the Central Coast. Kunin is bringing in a few tons of Paradise Vineyard syrah tomorrow morning which will at least get us all acquainted with where the crush pad is located again (:My rose has been inoculated and is happily fermenting. I love yeast.
What are Brix?
Answer: Brix are a scale of measuring total dissolved compounds in grape juice, and therefore its approximate concentration of grape sugars.
